What is online therapy or Telehealth, and how does it work?

Online therapy (telehealth psychology) is professional mental health support delivered via secure video. It's ideal for those seeking flexible, private support, especially if you have a busy lifestyle, live in a rural setting or don’t have access to specialised in-person professionals. Or simply because you prefer the comfort of your own space. We aim to make therapy as accessible as possible to everyone who needs it. Our psychologists use the Coviu Platform. The Coviu platform is highly secure, using end-to-end encryption and meeting strict healthcare data protection standards.

Do you work just with eating disorders and body image concerns?

No, we don’t work exclusively with eating disorders and body image concerns. While that is a special passion of ours, we also support clients with a broad range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship difficulties. We use evidence-based, weight-inclusive, and neuroaffirming approaches. You don’t necessarily need to have a diagnosis of an Eating disorder to benefit from our services. We work from a social model of care and believe everyone deserves support regardless of labels.

Do you support neurodivergent clients?

Absolutely. We enjoy working with everything that falls under the neurodiversity umbrella (not just ADHD and autistic clients). We do this through a strengths-based, neuroaffirming lens, supporting identity, burnout, masking, and emotion regulation. Sometimes this is done alongside body image or trauma treatments.

Is online therapy effective for eating disorders and trauma?

Yes. Research has shown telehealth therapy to be highly effective for treating eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and ADHD. It is just as effective as in-person treatment when delivered by qualified psychologists using evidence-based treatment options like CBT-E, SSCM, FBT, MANTRA, ACT, IFS, DBT, and Schema Therapy.

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed to get started. But if you have a Mental Health Care Plan or an Eating Disorder Plan from your GP, you can access Medicare rebates for 10-40 sessions per year (eligibility criteria apply). You may be able to receive some rebates through your private health insurance (please check your level of cover and contact your insurer).

How do I book an online session?

Booking is easy. Use our online form or contact us directly at admin@recoveredclinic.com.au. All sessions are held via secure video conferencing using the Coviu platform. You just need a private space and an internet connection.

Is it confidential and secure?

Yes. We utilise encrypted video platforms and securely store all information in accordance with Australian privacy laws. Your sessions are fully confidential. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to discuss this with one of our team members. You can read more about our privacy policy here.

What are the fees?

As of 2025, our fees are $240.0 per 50-minute session for both Registered and Clinical Psychologists. To find out more, click here.

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out to a member of our Administration Support Team or your psychologist to discuss rebate and payment options.

What is the cancellation policy?

As of 2025, Cancellations made within 48 hours (notice period excludes weekends & public holidays) of the scheduled appointment time will be charged 50% of the usual session fee. This means an appointment scheduled on a Monday needs to be cancelled at the latest by the prior Thursday to avoid a cancellation fee.

Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment time will be charged at 100% of the usual session fee.  Missed sessions will be charged 100% of the usual session fee. This is to ensure that we have sufficient notice to offer this time to other clients also in need of support. To find out more, click here.
